Exterior Paint: StuccoMudcracking

Mudcracking is the appearance of deep cracks in the paint coating after it dries.

Mudcracking occurs when the paint fails to properly adhere to the surface due to the presence of oil or wax on the surface. The weak bond between the paint and the surface makes the paint coating vulnerable to cracking.

Cause 1: Contaminated surface

If the surface is contaminated with oil or wax, the paint may not adhere properly to the surface. As a result, the paint coating will be weak and may develop cracks.
